Hurricane Patricia 


We often hear in the news about the destruction of tornadoes. When we feel the wrath of an EF-5 tornado, the world is in awe of its power and devastation. Typically an EF-5 tornado, the strongest category on the Enhanced Fujita Tornado Scale, has wind speeds of over 200 mph, with the power to 100% level entire communities. These tornadoes can get to be 1 to 2 miles wide, with the widest ever recorded to be a 2013 tornado in El Reno, Oklahoma. This tornado, an EF-3 tornado, was about 2.6 miles in total width. Hurricane Joaquin Forecasted. 


Hurricane Joaquin has been a huge headache to meteorologists everywhere. Computer models used by meteorologists have gone from being all in on a solution that would bring Joaquin into the Carolinas, then models go all in on a solution taking the storm completely out to sea, which is the thinking behind the forecast put out by Forecasting Consultants...But to continue this headache, as the forecast below is being written a new model run has been coming in showing the possibility again that Joaquin may get uncomfortably close to the coast of southern New England toward the beginning of next week. Tropical Storm Niala: Close Call




Tropical Storm (TS) Niala has been an exception. Over the weekend, the system was expected to go over the Hawaiian islands, but has since changed direction. There are still many concerns because the additional threats associated with tropical systems are still able to affect the islands due to proximity.


Hurricane season in the Central Pacific runs from June 1st through November 30th. Activity is usually rare and when present, very weak. In fact, the Weather Forecast Office only activates the Central Pacific Hurricane Center (CPHC) when there is a tropical system in the central Pacific.
